Bieber-fever propels Matt Lauer to 100k followers in a day

Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) made an appearance on The Today Show yesterday and in an interview with host Matt Lauer, asked his 20 million+ Twitter followers to follow Matt’s freshly-created Twitter account with 0 followers.

After the first day with the new Twitter account, NBC’s Lauer has accumulated just under 130,000 followers as of the time of this writing.

Will the exponential growth of Lauer’s Twitter account continue, or was it simply a one-day stunt?
